Inspectas sponsor Fire Safety and Project Accountability white paper

We are proud to have sponsored the latest white paper looking into a shift in attitudes since the Building Safety Act’s (BSA) changes of 2023.

The industry viewfinder commissioned by Architects Datafile has canvassed architects’ views on future safety regulations for higher risk buildings (HRBs).

Amongst its findings is a lack of confidence that the Building Safety Act is a “panacea” for the current issues, with over two-thirds of respondents believing they would not be likely to take up the challenge of the new BSA Principal Designer role given the potentially major risks attached to taking responsibility for shared design information that it entails.

Our Director of Property & Construction Compliance Neil Triggs says:

“More and more businesses are looking for an external specialist to take on the BSA Principal Designer role because of the implications of getting it wrong. As this white paper demonstrates, one major private sector building control firm has already gone under because they were unable to conform to the Building Safety Regulator’s new regime.”

He added:

“The Building Safety Act and changes to the Building Regulations are central to a fundamental change in how architects, designers, developers and all those involved in residential, commercial and pan sector high rise new build, development and refurbishment approach the design, construction and regulatory approval process.

This is an area which we at Inspectas live and breathe as part of our service delivery. That’s why we wanted to be part of a white paper which highlights its impact with a view to creating an open dialogue and an open community to share views and build confidence through shared knowledge and support.”
